expedition CAMPS
Stylish, mobile camps, set in pristine and beautiful environs, with comfortable mattresses, wonderful cotton sheets, Arabian rugs, vivid colours and carefully chosen furnishings. Our camps have tented bathrooms, with showers open to the skies, sumptuous cotton towels and luxurious toiletries. There is also a central ‘Majlis’ area for relaxing in, with shade, rugs and cushions and a small Soqotri library.
Only solar light, candles, oil lamps and fires are used, to blend in with the natural environment.
Dinner is a magical experience served under the stars, beside a crackling fire and either seated in a majlis or at a properly laid table, replete with glasses, china crockery and linen tablecloths. Our chefs prepare delicious Soqotri and Yemeni dishes (famously amongst the best cuisine in the Middle East), as well as dishes from the wider Middle East, North Africa and Mediterranean, all using local ingredients and freshly prepared in camp. Fish is plentiful, fabulously fresh and delicious on Socotra and all types, including shell fish, frequently feature on our menus.
